Kung Fu Movies
Okay, so you’re here checking out my kung-fu movie page… brave soul. Well, if you’re here, you must be curious, so here are brief reviews of some of my favorites…

The Brothers Wachowski[The Matrix Trilogy] How can you go wrong with these three? Spirituality, martial arts, science fiction, and more hidden mysticism than you can shoot a bullet at. Not to be missed: Neo’s fist-print in Agent Smith’s cheek in the 3rd movie. |

Zhang Yimou[Hero, House of Flying Daggers] Visually stunning, Zhang Yimou’s films are a feast for the senses. And his plots aren’t as flat as swamp land in Florida, either. Not to be missed: The battle on the lake in Hero; the “sound game” in the bamboo grove in House. |

Ang Lee[Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon] Not to be missed: Chow Yun Fat, schooling Zhang Ziyi with a stick… while she’s got a sword… that’s bad. |

Quentin Tarantino[Kill Bill, Kill Bill 2, Iron Monkey] That said, when I saw Kill Bill (the first one), I almost walked out of the theater (too gory for my tastes). But the second one redeemed the first, and brought the two movies into my favorites list. KB2 is the back-story, the sequel, and the human side of what exploded in KB1. Regardless, both movies are amazing - and Uma is the queen. Not to be missed: In the “Special Features” sections on both dvd’s, the ‘Making Of’ featurettes. They’ll completely win you over. |
